Bastards! The Idaho Department of Labor website isn't Mac compatible!

I just spent the last 50 minutes registering online with the Idaho Department of Labor so I could open my unemployment claim, but lo and behold, the damn thing isn't Mac compatible. What is this, 1997?

The registration, a fairly simple and innocuous process designed to get you into the system, went fine, but when I tried to open a claim, I got a message saying the application was designed to run on Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 and that I was "unable to continue," which is code for "Ha! If you want on the dole, you have to come see us, loser."

Nice. I guess this means I have to put on pants.

  4. The IDOL has been saying they were upgrading so Mac users could use their system, but after a year or two of reading that, I gave up hope.

  5. The same thing happened to me. I figured that they assume that Mac users never lose their jobs.. :)

  6. You just have to register...once you do you can stay in the comfort of your home and pjs and update the weekly stuff you have to from your mac. It's a pain, but the money is worth it.

  7. I completely understand the angst all us Mac people are going through. I wanted to get on the phone and yell at someone, but instead I went down to the office and registered. I decided on a whim to try to get into their site once I had registered and it worked. Now I can update my job search every week, check to see if they have any jobs posted, all that from my Mac. Hang in there.

  8. That's weird, because I registered with no problems but got hung up when I tried to file a claim. Maybe I'll try again before resigning myself to weekly trips to the office.

  9. Try again! Their site has issues sometimes, it could be them not you. I've been signed up for a couple of months and the only times I've had problems is when their server is down. Good luck, it's so much easier from home.

  10. Internet Explorer 8 doesn't get in either, even with compatibility mode on. Their dweeb programmers must've put a blanket [punt if not MSW 7] in the code.
